Specialized Workshops

 

Emcee:  Becoming a Better Emcee - Showcase Stage - Friday 6:00 PM & Saturday 12:00 PM.   

with Sandi Marola (Texas Rose). 

Sign up for a spot to Emcee on the Showcase Stage and learn how to:  keep the stage running on schedule, make good announcements, introduce the Band with excitement and have good information about them,

keep the audience and the bands happy.

Meet at the Showcase Stage (Apollo Restaurant) 1½ hours prior to opening of the day’s schedule.

 

Information Sharing for Festival Promoters – with Jodi Fishbein (OATS Bluegrass Festival)

  Interested patrons are also welcome to attend. Saturday.

 

Music Theory 101 - Basics.  Sharon Charles, (Charles Piano Studio), will explain basic essential music theory, and how the chromatic music scale relates directly to all instruments. Saturday

 

Music Theory 102 - Understanding the Pentatonic Scale in Bluegrass with Hilde Binford, PhD, (Moravian College) will examine different types of pentatonic scales and give examples of how these scales are used in traditional bluegrass favorites. No music theory background is necessary. Saturday and Sunday.

 

Fiddle with Kerry Craig. Kerry will cover a range of topics in this more intensive and longer workshop geared to accommodate participant’s questions and needs … for all levels. Saturday

 

Instrument Clinic with Dana Sutcliffe, Master Luthier, Dana Sound Research.

Dana will be available for questions regarding repairs, set ups, strings, woods, frets, tools, electronics and accessories related to all instruments. He will have examples of tools and building materials related to the topics of discussions. Saturday and Sunday.

 

Injury Prevention for Musicians with Kathy de Plaza N.D. Why Knot? Wellness & Massage, LLC in West Grove, PA. Kathy will focus on the ability to maintain muscle health and flexibility while playing your instrument until you drop!  There will be a good bit of hands on work during the workshop.  She has been playing flatpick bluegrass guitar for five years and has a good understanding of musician injuries. Saturday and Sunday.
