First, I want to thank Everyone who attended, patronized, supported, and sponsored us to make Wilmington Winter Bluegrass V another very successful event last weekend. To the volunteers, also a big THANK YOU... because we couldn't make this great festival happen without your help...including the box office staff and ticketing, 50/50 operators, announcers, stage managers, sound techs, workshop presenters, Accountant - Sharon Fenimore, Webmaster - Rodney Motz, Main Stage Crew - Fred Clemens, Ben Jarnutowski and the Doylestown Jam, and last but not least, the WWG Board of Directors: John Pappas, Paul Rogers, Hugh Dolan, Michele Green, (and myself). Next year's dates are March 15-17, 2013.
Next, I'm pleased to announce that Dan Miller and Tim May of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine will be with us again on the afternoon of May 6th for another one of their superior interactive workshops. Dan and Tim were with us in November of 2010 and did a fantastic workshop on Flatpicking Essentials. This time they will focus on improvisation for Guitar and Mandolin covering all skill levels.

An Approach to Improvisation on Guitar and Mandolin
Tim May and Dan Miller (co-authors of the popular eight volume Flatpicking Essentials Guitar Course and the instructional DVD "An Approach to Improvisation"), will conduct a hands-on, all-level Guitar and Mandolin Improvisation Workshop.
The idea of learning how to improvise can be confusing and overwhelming. Tim May and Dan Miller's workshop will prove to you that it is much easier to improvise than you think, and now is the time to start learning, even if you are a beginner to guitar or mandolin! In the workshop Tim and Dan teach an approach to improvisation that will put you on the road to improvising a solo on a song in a very short amount of time. The method that they teach and the skills that you will learn in this workshop will help really demystify improvisation. In fact, no matter what your current ability level, you will be improvising by the end of this workshop, even on a song that you have never heard before! If you are already an accomplished improvisational player this workshop can help take your abilities to the next level. If you are new to
improvisation, this workshop will give you confidence in taking that big step to becoming an improvisational player. Each student will be given several opportunities to play for, and get direct feedback from, the instructors.
After the workshop there will be a jam open to the public ... a $3.00 donation is asked to help defray the cost of rental space.
Seating is limited. Calling or sending an e-mail with the name(s), phone numbers, and e-mail addresses to: firstname.lastname@example.org will reserve your space. Payment must be received to lock it in. Please include: Guitar and Mandolin Workshop in the e-mail subject line.
